Background

USRI has been established in late 2018 in Somali Region. Since its establishment, the organization has been providing voluntary service to the community it hails from. The organization has now 2 full time staff running the day to day activities of the office and 13 board members with oversight responsibilities.  With a view to enhance its capacity USRI is planning to hire a short term consultant with key responsibilities of setting up standard:

Introduction

• Umbrella for Somali Region Intellectuals (USRI) is nonpolitical, non-profit making intellectual organization founded by a group of Somali intellectuals
• With the main purpose of serving the community of the region and contributing to the overall development endeavors in the Somali region
• The major reason why this organization is formed is that the intellectuals has been excluded from the political, social and economic debates in the country which is believed has denied the region and the country an opportunity to benefit from the vital contributions intellectuals make in terms of knowledge and ideas that contribute towards producing an informed citizenry that is able to participate in the country’s democracy and development effectively
• USRI will serve as a platform or a kind of forum for intellectuals from all spheres to interact and share knowledge and ideas through public presentations and debates
